WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — A man accused of killing his wife and daughter in a drunken driving crash in central Wisconsin has been found not guilty.

Jurors in Marathon County deliberated for seven hours before clearing Travis Ploman on four counts of homicide by drunken driving and other charges Wednesday night. Ploman wept as the verdicts were read and hugged family members, including his 11-year-old son, Jordan, who was injured in the 2009 crash.

Defense attorney Greg Meeker argued Ploman suffered a diabetic reaction before the crash and that sloppy police work eliminated evidence that could have been used at the trial. The Wausau Daily Herald says the defense presented testimony questioning the accuracy of blood tests showing Ploman was intoxicated.

Forty-year-old Jennifer Ploman and 12-year-old Erin Ploman died in the crash on Interstate 39 in Mosinee.
