MILWAUKEE (AP) — A federal agency that handles workplace issues has accused Milwaukee-based Rexnord Industries LLC of firing a woman who suffers from migraine headaches.

According to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, it filed a lawsuit Thursday alleging discrimination on the basis of a disability.

According to the EEOC, the woman gets migraines and was regarded by the company as having a seizure disorder. The agency said Rexnord fired her after she twice became ill at work.

The agency said the termination violates the Americans With Disabilities Act, which protects employees from discrimination based on real or perceived disabilities.

A message left with Rexnord on Thursday was not immediately returned.

Rexnord is a private industrial company. Its products include mechanical components such as specialty bearings and steel castings.
