SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — A Sheboygan woman is charged with driving drunk and hitting three pedestrians, including one who died of her injuries.

A criminal complaint filed in Sheboygan County Circuit Court charges 19-year-old Kayla Bower with five felonies, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. According to the complaint, Bower was leaving the Brat Days festival and struck the women as they crossed the street in the marked crosswalk near Kiwanis Park Saturday night.

Bower told police she panicked and drove away, abandoned her car and ran home.

Sixty-year-old Barbara Janke of Sheboygan died Monday. Her daughter and a friend, both 19, were treated at a hospital and released.

The Sheboygan Press says a court commissioner set Bower’s bail at $100,000 Tuesday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 17.
