MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A state prison spokesman says a convicted burglar who allegedly attacked a woman in her home Friday had been released from prison just nine days before the attack and was supposed to be out looking for a job.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports 40-year-old Shawn A. Strunk, of Madison, was charged Tuesday with 10 felonies related to the home invasion attack. Some charges related to other crimes.
The criminal complaint alleges Strunk entered the 69-year-old woman’s home and first attacked her husband, then attacked her.
A group of nearby golfers heard the woman screaming, came to her aid and held Strunk down on the ground until police arrived.
Corrections Department spokesman Tim LeMonds said that at the time of the attacks, Strunk was wearing a monitoring anklet.
