SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — The Sheboygan city attorney is reviewing a complaint from a citizen that asks for the mayor’s resignation.

The complaint could start the process for having Mayor Bob Ryan removed from office. The City Council voted 14-2 Monday night for a resolution calling on the mayor to resign in the wake of a weekend drinking binge in Elkhart Lake. Ryan again refused to give up his job. The council alone cannot remove the mayor, but a legitimate citizen complaint would start the process.

Meanwhile, The Sheboygan Press says the city’s insurer has settled a sexual harassment complaint filed by its former human resources director. Angela Payne accused the mayor of making sexual advances while he was drunk. Payne was fired in August 2009, a month after she said she rebuffed the mayor’s advances.
