MILWAUKEE (AP) — A federal employment agency is accusing a Waunakee-based company of firing an employee because of her disabilities.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced a lawsuit Wednesday against Meffert Oil Co. Inc.

According to the EEOC, Meffert owns two BP One Stop stores, including one where the civil-rights violation allegedly occurred.

The agency says Meffert apparently fired the woman for leaving work to seek medical attention for a lung disease and panic attacks.

According to the EEOC, the lawsuit seeks lost wages for the woman along with compensatory and punitive damages.

A company spokesman did not immediately return a message Wednesday seeking comment.
