CHICAGO (AP) — A Wisconsin man who shot and killed his mother, pregnant wife, infant son and two nieces while they slept in a Chicago house has been sentenced to life in prison.
Thirty-three-year-old James Larry was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday in Cook County Circuit Court, a month after he pleaded guilty to the charges. One of his slain nieces also was pregnant.
The shooting occurred in April of last year. Authorities say Larry drove his family from Madison to the house on Chicago’s South Side on the afternoon of April 14. Then that night he opened fire. All of the victims except for Larry’s mother, 57-year-old Leona Larry, were pronounced dead at the scene. She died the next month.
