The John K. Maciver Institute for Public Policy announced the launching of WisconsinOpenGov.org. Per their website, it “provides you with one location for data on Wisconsin public employee salaries, benefits and labor contracts. We have worked hard to not just allow “access” the way many government information sites do, but to give you all of the data in a format that allows you to select and sort the information as you see fit.”

There is a very simple search box or the researcher can choose a category from the menu options. Those categories include Wisconsin Payrolls, K-12 Payrolls, Vendor Payments, and Labor Contracts. The researcher must register (it is free) to obtain the data and some of the categories are still in development (e.g. vendor payments). For the payroll data, queries can be entered by name, wage range, agency or position.
