College undergraduates can be lectured on the philosophy behind the The Simpsons, the University of Baltimore offers a media class that focuses on zombies in pop culture and now law students can enroll in a course that broadens their fashion sense.

Fordham University Law School has launched the Fashion Law Institute, the world’s first fashion law center.

Such a center in Wisconsin would probably be a stretch. But considering that New York is a fashion Mecca and the niche practice touches on a variety of area such as intellectual property, business, licensing and trademark, it is intriguing.

If anything, the Law Institute should put some teeth into the saying “a crime against fashion.”
